According to Rosa Maymi, an AARP programs manager, online cyber scams are rapidly growing in sophistication and number. As the number of people visiting online sites increases, so does the need for spreading awareness on how to protect online identity. Here are five tips strongly recommended by Google and AARP. First, exercise vigilance when making use of public wifi. Second, learn how to identify and avoid scammers especially those posing as employees of software providers or tech companies. Third, do not provide personal information through text message, email, or social media. Fourth, use different passwords for different accounts. Fifth, for Google Account users, use the Security Checkup regularly.
